What You'll Learn

Every student gets a plan built around their goals, favorite music, and experience. Along the way, you'll develop:

  • Technique & hand coordination — good posture, finger strength, and playing confidently with both hands
  • Reading music — notes, rhythms, and key signatures in treble and bass clef
  • Chords & accompaniment — playing from chord charts and lead sheets to accompany yourself or others
  • Scales & music theory — understanding how music fits together, right on the keyboard
  • Playing by ear & improvisation — picking out melodies and creating your own parts
  • Styles you love — pop, rock, classical, worship, country, blues, and more
  • Songwriting — using the piano to write and arrange original music
  • Performance skills — building confidence to play for family, friends, and an audience

Lessons for Kids, Teens & Adults

Kids — Fun, encouraging lessons that build a strong musical foundation, good practice habits, and real confidence, with songs young players are excited to learn.

Teens — From favorite songs to advanced technique, teens develop the skills to play in a band, accompany singers, write original music, or prepare for school and community performances.

Adults — It's never too late to start, or to come back to the piano after years away. Our instructors meet you where you are and help you play the music you've always wanted to play.

Piano & Keyboard

Whether you practice on an acoustic piano or a digital keyboard at home, our lessons will help you build skills that carry over to any instrument with keys. Your instructor can also introduce keyboard sounds and techniques for playing in a band.

Beginner Through Advanced

Beginner: Finding your way around the keyboard, reading your first notes and rhythms, and playing complete songs with both hands.

Intermediate: Scales and chord progressions, more complex rhythms, expanding your repertoire, and playing with greater expression.

Advanced: Advanced theory and technique, improvisation, arranging, songwriting, and preparing for performances or recording.

Frequently Asked Questions

How old does my child need to be to start piano lessons?

Every child is different — readiness depends on attention span, focus, and interest. Reach out and we'll help you decide whether your child is ready to begin.

I've never played before. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Many of our students start with no experience at all, including plenty of adults. Your instructor will start right where you are and build from there.

Do I need a piano at home?

Yes — you'll want an instrument at home so you can practice between lessons. An acoustic piano or a full-size digital keyboard works well. Not sure what to get? Ask us and we'll be happy to help.

Will I learn to read music?

Yes. Reading music is a valuable skill for pianists, and we teach it alongside chords, playing by ear, and the styles you enjoy, so you get a well-rounded musical foundation.

How often should I take lessons and practice?

Most students take one private lesson each week. Short, consistent practice sessions — even 15 to 20 minutes most days — make a big difference, and your instructor will give you a clear plan for what to work on.

Can I learn the songs and styles I like?

That's the idea! Pop, rock, classical, worship, country, blues, and more — your lessons are built around your goals and the music that inspires you.

Can piano students join RockShop?

Yes! RockShop welcomes keys players. Students are grouped by skill level and instrument to experience playing in a real band and performing live.
