10 Week ROCKSHOP-Summer Semester

Time: Camps meet 1x per week for 10 weeks for a 2hr practice in the evening.
Class Size: Five camps are available. Slots are limited.

Wanna rock the stage? Join Rockshop! Rockshop is a ten-week program where students of similar ages and experience levels play in a band together! With the guidance of a mentor, the students rehearse together once a week for two hours each week, pick a band name, choose their songs, and ROCK OUT ON STAGE! This program is built to challenge and engage students in a group musical setting! Students will be assigned to a band based on age and experience levels. Slots for the groups are limited. Travis’ Violin Workshop

Beginner-Intermediate

Date:  June 6-June 10
Time: 10 am – 2 pm
Class Size: 12
Requirements: Children Over 10 and Adults
Materials Needed: Violin, Violin Bow, and Rosin

Explore the rich history of swing, country, bluegrass, and blues through the beauty of the violin/fiddle! Guided by Grand Old Opry veteran, Travis Wetzel, students will gain an understanding of melody and improvisation, and will learn how to read chart music for violin standards! This immersive program is ideal for students who enjoy the violin/fiddle and desire to learn more about violin/fiddle and its use in 19th, 20th and 21st-century music. At the end of the camp, we will have a recorded recital for everyone to take home!

 

 

Teen Home Recording Camp

Beginner-Advanced

Date:  June 13-June 17
Time: 10 am – 2 pm
Class Size: 10
Requirements: Ages 13-18
Materials Needed: Laptop, Tablet, or Smartphone (preferably an Apple but PC/Android are acceptable)

Learn how to record and mix your own music in your own home studio! In this one-week summer workshop, our teacher Jared Corder, frontman of * REPEAT REPEAT and owner of Polychrome Studio & Ranch, will teach students the ins and outs of recording and mixing music, and what recording products you‘ll need, and how to record from your own home studio! Students will learn how to professionally record, create, and mix their own music! At the end of the week, students will take home their very own recorded song, and the knowledge of how to continue recording music from their own home! 

 

Songwriting/Music Theory Camp

Intermediate-Advanced

Date:  June 20-June 24
Time: 10 am – 2 pm
Class Size: 15
Requirements: Ages 12-19
Materials Needed: None

Do you enjoy writing music? Want to further your musical knowledge? Sign up for our one-week, songwriting/music theory workshop! This workshop is ideal for teens who have a basic understanding of music, and want to further their knowledge in music theory and songwriting. During the course of the one-week program, students will study music notation, pitch, scale, modes, rhythm, key signatures, intervals, melody, harmony, chords, and chord progressions, and how to use these tools to further their songwriting skills. Students will write music together, and at the end of the program, students will record their song(s) in our studio. The class will be led by our teacher, Adam Shea!

Requirements: Ages 9-16

Do your kids love metal music? Does your teen like to rock out to classics such as Metallica, Megadeth, or Pantera? Then sign up for the METALHEAD SONG A DAY WORKSHOP! Students will explore and learn the music from legends such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Dio, Motley Crue, and Black Sabbath! Led by experienced metal music masters, Ryan Drinnen and Randy Peterson, students will spend five days exploring Metal Music from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s! At the end of the camp, students will have a live performance at a local venue!

 

Rockshop Choir

Ovation Music & Studio Rock ‘N’ Roll Choir

Harness the power of your voice this summer! Join the Ovation Music & Studios Pop/Rock Choir camp! Over the course of FIVE DAYS, students will sing together in a choir and learn pop/rock choir arrangements! With the guidance of our teacher, Kassie, students will learn how to read staff music, how to sing harmonies, and how to work together in an ensemble. At the end of the camp, the choir will perform LIVE ON STAGE at the PALACE THEATER along with our Rockshop groups!
